My name is Becca, and I created Becca’s Barn Dance in 2012.
It all started in the halls of her family's horse barn way back in the 1970s where Becca Salamone learned to dance The Hustle and The Bus Stop with her horse show friends. For her, line dancing was a way to have fun and socialize with her fellow horse lovers; it was an integral part of her upbringing.
When she was 15 years old, she took ballet, tap, and jazz at Jackie O'Neal School of Dance in Birmingham, AL, until graduating high school. During college in Mobile, Alabama, she continued her pursuit of dance, studying modern dance, jazz dance, and belly dancing.
From the early years until now, Becca has danced both line and couples dances at various bars, event venues, and dance competitions around the country.
In 2009, she competed in Two Step with her hearing-impaired partner, Alan Tidwell, placing 4th in the United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC)-sanctioned dance competition held in Nashville, TN, called Music City Dance Classic. From 2009 to 2019, she taught line dancing at various community venues and opened her business called Becca's Barn Dance in 2012 which focuses on teaching both public and private line dance lessons for special occasions and celebrations. During this time, she led a group of forty or more line dancers for four years in the Birmingham, Alabama area, teaching dances, organizing events, and performing at charity benefits.
From 2019 to 2024, she taught line dance lessons at VAN’S in Leeds, Alabama. While at VAN's, Becca choreographed line dances for the bands Sweet Tea Trio, Who Shot Lizzy?, Nitty Gritty GR, and Tremayne. The line dance to Who Shot Lizzy?'s song Wastin' Whiskey was featured in the band's music video filmed at VAN’S in which she and her line dance students were included as feature dancers. As well, the line dance to Rackin Horse, a song by Nitty Gritty GR, was featured in the music video filmed at VAN’S, along with the dance stylings of the J Creek Cloggers featuring viral sensation "blue shirt guy" Zeb Ross. Again, Becca and her students were featured dancers. Most recently, she choreographed the dance to the song Bama Lama Boogie by Tremayne, who was recognized as Alabama’s Country Band of the Year several years in a row at the Alabama Music Awards show in Bessemer, Alabama.
In 2022, Becca founded a line dance team called Becca’s Boot Scooters Line Dance Troupe based in Leeds, AL, at VAN’S. Their first major performance for the team came at the 9th Annual Alabama Music Awards where they received the most applause of any act that performed during the four-hour show. Not only did the audience enjoy their performance, many industry professionals did as well, which led to offers for the team to dance in upcoming music videos. In 2024, Becca's Boot Scooters Line Dance Troupe was invited to perform as the opening act of the 10th Annual Alabama Music Awards Show.
Becca has been hired to entertain, teach lessons, and/or emcee at multiple corporate events in the area over the past few years including events for Signature Homes, Helena Hollow, Overture Tributary, Oak Mountain State Park, Carnival Cruise - Horse Lovers Summit at Sea, Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, St. Clair County Cowboy Church, VAN'S, Alabama's Little Bit Of Texas, Cat-n-Bird Winery, Pub 261, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Valleydale Christian Academy.
Becca is known for making her line dance lessons fun and accommodating for her students of all skill levels. Becca is an NTA-accredited line dance instructor and the Alabama State Director for the National Teachers Association (NTA), an international personal trainer and coach program for dancers incorporating many styles of dance.
Currently, Becca teaches line dancing at Pub 261 in Pelham, Alabama, on Mondays at 6:30 PM and on Thursdays at 6:00 PM. On Wednesdays she teaches at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Birmingham, Alabama, at 6:30 PM.
Join her and the Becca’s Boot Scooters Line Dance Troupe for a boot-scootin’ good time!
